Time-Domain Astrophysics with SuperWASP
SuperWASP is the world’s leading ground-based survey for transiting exoplanets. Its database now contains over 300 billion data points covering 30 million unique objects from 10 million images obtained over 1700 nights since 2004. In addition to having discovered 70 transiting exoplanets, SuperWASP enables long-baseline, high-cadence studies of variable stars to be performed. We summarise some ...
متن کامل1 High Time Resolution Astrophysics and Pulsars
The discovery of pulsars in 1968 heralded an era where the temporal characteristics of detectors had to be reassessed. Up to this point detector integration times would normally be measured in minutes rather seconds and definitely not on sub-second time scales. At the start of the 21st century pulsar observations are still pushing the limits of detector/telescope capabilities. Flux variations o...
متن کاملConstruction of fully symmetric numerical integration formulas of fully symmetric numerical integration formulas
The paper develops a construction for finding fully symmetric integration formulas of arbitrary degree 2k + t in n-space such that the number of evaluation points is O ((2n)k/k t), n ~ . Formulas of degrees 3, 5, 7, 9, are relatively simple and are presented in detail. The method has been tested by obtaining some special formulas of degrees 7, 9 and 1 t but these are not presented here.
متن کاملQuantum Squeezed Light Propagation in an Optical Parity-Time (PT)-Symmetric Structure
We investigate the medium effect of a parity-time (PT)-symmetric bilayer on the quantum optical properties of an incident squeezed light at zero temperature (T=0 K). To do so, we use the canonical quantization approach and describe the amplification and dissipation properties of the constituent layers of the bilayer structure by Lorentz model to analyze the quadrature squeezing of the outgoing ...
متن کاملA Modified Multi Time Step Integration for Dynamic Analysis
In this paper new implicit higher order accuracy (N-IHOA) time integration based on assumption of constant time step is presented for dynamic analysis. This method belongs to the category of the multi time step integrations. Here, current displacement and velocity are assumed to be functions of the velocities and accelerations of several previous time steps, respectively. This definition causes...
